Graduation Requirements

The state of Louisiana requires students to earn a minimum of 23 Carnegie units/credits in order to graduate from High School. If a student does not pass each individual course that is on their schedule, he/she is in danger of not graduating on time or will need to make-up course credits.  
All students must earn a passing score on at least three (3) EOC/LEAP2025 tests. This includes one (1) from each category listed below:
  • Category 1
    • Algebra I or Geometry
  • Category 2
    • English I, English II or English III(phasing out)
  • Category 3
    • Biology or U.S. History
Scholars identified as receiving Special Education Services may be eligible to qualify for these requirements through alternate means. Please see your IEP case manager for more information. 
With the passing of House Bill No. 542, all students are required to complete a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillators) training course. National certification testing is offered as part of this bill free of charge. 
Cohen students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service prior to graduation. Community service hours may be earned at any point during the four (4) years of high school, including during summer vacation, and may be served either individually or in groups.
All service hours must be documented and approved by the Principal or his designee.
Students who wish to graduate with the Louisiana Community Service Diploma Endoresment must complete a total of 80 hours. A minimum of 10 hours must be completed in 9th grade, 20 hours completed in 10th grade, 25 hours completed in 11th grade and 25 hours completed in 12th grade to qualify.  Click here to learn more about this diploma endorsement.
